Chronicles of a Nigerian Beauty Addict : The Truth about Micro Needling & My Dermaroller Experience in Lagos

My sister once told me that she has no intention of getting old gracefully, she has every intention of going down kicking and screaming. This ethos I must admit has rubbed off on me and when it comes to using all the arsenal one can afford I am all for it.  I don’t judge. Whatever a girl needs to do, as long as it is not going to endanger your health (benefits must always ALWAYS out weight the risks) I encourage whole heartedly. When it comes to beauty treatments, I do all my daily home treatments as I should but some clogged pores and pollution fighting needs the help of a good spa in your life….some treatments my darlings need a health professional in your life. Dr Akhere Aire graduated as a Dentist from the Medical University of Southern Africa (MEDUNSA) in Pretoria, South Africa.  He had a practise in South Africa and spent several years practising in England.  Over the years he found his interests moving towards cosmetic dentistry, Skin Aesthetics and injectables (training …

It’s finally here, the widely anticipated movie of the year will finally hit the screens on.. yes you guessed it.. October 1st! Many expected the film to be released last year but Kunle Afolayan’s work of art wasn’t going to be rushed and it’s well worth the wait.  A poignant story set against the backdrop of colonial Nigeria makes a beautiful masterpiece.  You don’t realize how long the film is, it takes you along a roller coaster of emotions. Laugher, Love, Anger and finally a sense of Victory and Pride. Kunle’s first triumph was in selecting an amazing line up of fresh new young actors and coupling them with some of the most respected veteran in the industry.   His second was working with Uncle Pat Nebo.  This man is a legend.  He was the Art Director on Araromire (The Figurine) as well as on Half of a Yellow Sun to name a few.  If you have a project that needs the best, then you have to hire the best!   The details that went …

Beauty Police: – BET Awards 2014: Best (and Worst) of The Red Carpet Looks

Hey Guys There’s nothing more exciting than a good old fashioned Red Carpet Event, Hollywood Style.  The eyes of the world are focused on who’s wearing what and who came together.  But our eyes are focused solely on how they did what and in which colour! Lol The BET Awards help place yesterday and there were definately alot of hits (and misses).  Some beauty traps such as the scorching sun made quite a few of our regular favourites struggle to maintain their glow and melted faces unforgiving! White was a big trend on the red carpet this year, and while we don’t really focus on fashion and what they wore, you have to take your outfit into consideration when planning your entire look.  If you’re entire ensemble is monotone then you’re going to need a little something extra to make sure you don’t look drained.  White is such a fresh clean colour, you’ve got to make sure you’re makeup is on point! Blonde hair was another big trend. However, again, depending on your skin tone, …
