Makeup Tips & Tricks – Banke Meshida Lawal Shares Her Secrets

By Banke Meshida Lawal

We’re really pleased to have a guest writer grace our site and even more excited that it’s non other than the legendary Banke Meshida-Lawal herself.

Check out some of her favourite tips & tricks to revamp your makeup bag.

TRY LOOKS YOU WOULDN’T NORMALLY DARE AND JUST HAVE FUN!!

Primary Colours

Orange, Blue, Yellow, Green, Violet, Red.. colour colour colour.. The most unlikely shades can look amazing together. Invest in a 120 colour eyeshadow pallette from Sacred Artistry and become inspired! The trick here is to blend very well.  I’d recommend an eyeshadow base as well as a crease brush to help you apply colour exactly where you want it.   Try our BM Pro Eyeshadow Base and our professional brushes.

Lush Lashes

Give any makeup look instant Vavavoom with a set of luxurious lashes.  Wether you’d prefer Strip, Flares or Semi Permanent Lashes, the options are endless.  I personally love strip lashes, they’re comfortable to wear and with the wide variety of styles available you can transform into a Glamour Puss or a Rockstar in Minutes and with no commitment at all, take them off at night and pop them back into their box to save for the next time!   I highly recommend Sacred Lashes or for the more budget concious Red Cherry Lashes.  I always use lashes for Brides, Photoshoots & Special Event Make Overs.

Brown Smokey

First prep your skin with a mattifying cream. BM Pro Foundation Primer keeps your base on and shine free but slightly  dewy.  Pick your shade of brown. But apply a cream eyeshadow all over the lower lid first. Then blend in a complimenting brown powder shadow. Make sure to clean off flecks of eyeshadow that may have fallen on your cheeks. Traditionally i’d opt for a pale lip shade but I also love dark reds and wines.  Keep it matte or slightly moist but skip the gloss.

Glowing Blush

Shimmering Blush is one of my top favourite looks. Shades like Coral, Tangerine and Pinks look amazing on all skin types. The trick is to concentrate the colour on the apples of your cheeks. My top recommended shades to try are Nars Orgasm & Taj Mahal and  BM Pro Chaos.  But make sure to use a good brush that will ensure you don’t spread it all over your face.

Fake Good Skin

What you put under your foundation determines how flawless it will look.  Start with a good foundation primer (available at BM Pro or Sacred Artistry). Putting this on alone feels amazing. Velvety Smooth it will help your liquid foundation stay in place. I particularly like Black Up Foundations as they have a yellow undertone as well as our own range of professional make-up.   Primer + Foundation = MAGIC.. watch your skin glow.
