Love it or Loath it: Trend Review – Reverse French Manicure

By Odun Ogunbiyi

Ok my lovelies, I’m so excited.. I’ve been set free out of HQ and let loose upon foreign shores! But as promised to the girls back home, I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled on behalf of our Sacred Angels and reporting on any trends that may crop up.

While scrolling through the August 2012 edition of my InStyle Magazine I kept bumping into articles about the reverse French Manicure. Being a huge fan of expressing myself through my fingertips I was very keen to try this look out.

So I decided to use the OPI gel polish alternative and I promptly took myself off to a local Mani pedi heaven here in Aventura Miami keen to get my nails primped and preened.

Not as easy as it looks my darlings.

I went with a deep purple and grey mainly due to a lack of some colour combinations I had first come up with.

The nail technician kept complaining about how the top colour kept on running off the base colour, being a gel polish this is not an easily rectified situation.  Apparently the French manicure ingredients are formulated to work together in a way that this combination was not.

It took her a little time to get it right and I must say I am glad that she did.

What do you think folks?

Love it or Loathe it .. You decide?

Ooh.. I didn’t think you could do it with gel polish. I like the black and gold in the magazine, gonna try it out next weekend!

    Dear Makeup Junkie,
It is actually a deep red with a metallic gold tip, which I am going to hook myself up with tomorrow. Will probably upload the piccys if I like how that looks.
I think a gold and black combo would be equally as fierce.
