Hair: Brazilian, Indian or Russian Virgin?

Growing up in London i’ve always sported a short edgy crop.  I would dye my hair a variety of different colours every other month.  Some days I might wake up and have an uncontrolled urge to go pink or blue or just for the heck of it, green.   However, the more I started travelling back to Nigeria I became very aware of hair. It was everywhere, long luscious bouncy hair.  I stuck to my crop as long as I could until one day I decided to venture down the path of.. a weave on!!  *gasp*

Video: Makeup Artist Carly Creates Rhinestone Eyes

This week our video tutorial is by an amazing makeup artist Carly (aka @Glitterdollz7).  She is currently a contributing editor for FaceOn Magazine.  If you’ve never heard of this publication that’s because it’s still quite new but it’s a must have in any avid makeup artist’s collection. It’s a simple concept, a magazine that has been created by makeup artists for makeup artists.  You can check out their website on  www.faceonmagazine.co.uk But let’s get back on track…  Last week we had crystal lips and this week we’ve gone with a Cheryl Cole inspired look as seen in her “Parachute” video.  It’s a great editorial look, quite simple to achieve as long as you have the patience.  Of course you can feel free to tweak the colours and make it your own, as once you’ve seen this look, you’ll be hard pressed to keep recreating it for other shoots. The lashes featured in the tutorial are similar to “Mandy” or “Zelda” available from the http://www.SacredLashes.com range. For a more unique take on the look, you could …

Makeup Tips: Are you a Cream or Powder Girl (Blush that is)

A  L♥√ع for Blushes I never understood the beauty of blushers up until last year when I bought my little ‘box of tricks’ by w7 (approx £7.00). I only bought it initially for the eye shadows but I somehow cheated on them when I found myself falling in love with another item..I’ve never regretted the affair since *shy face*. I still use and totally adore the rose petal powder blush because it gives a rosy tinge to my cheeks and brightens my entire complexion.

Skincare Tips: Taming the oil – Revealing a glow

Have you ever wondered how you could make your skin glow?  Ever meet someone and just couldn’t help admire their beautiful skin? Here are a few suggestions on how you can get that kind of skin.  Most are easy, simple and cost very little. So treat your skin with care and watch your skin glow. To properly care for your skin, you have to first identify your skin type.  Skin is usually categorised into either dry, sensitive, oily or both i.e. combination skin.  A high percentage of African/Caribbean skins will tend to be combination/oily skin types but skin dosen’t depend on your race, genetics, lifestyle & age all contribute to determine your type. If you fall into this category, the bad news is that while you are more likely to suffer from outbreaks and the dreaded shine (usually when you’re at an event or party praying that you don’t look like someone’s just fried an egg on your face because all your make-up seems to have literally melted off your face) the good news is that you are less likely to develop wrinkles at a young age.

I’ll always remember while growing up the mere mention of waxing would send spine tingling shudders down my spine. Frankly, I couldn’t think of anything worse!  But to be honest, the first time I ever lay down and bared it all in the open to my therapist, my initial fear and embarrassment was very quickly forgotten when I experienced the almighty shock of hot wax being ripped off my most intimate parts! Looking back on it now I have to laugh.  Now I can’t imagine how I lived without it.
